International Framework Agreement
Through the International Framework Agreement, Aker and its
industrial companies have committed to respecting and supporting
fundamental human rights and trade union rights in the countries in
which the portfolio companies operate. The applicable principles are
laid out in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the OECD
Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises and the ILO Declaration on
Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work. Aker is committed to promoting a safe and healthy working environment and has committed itself to this through the framework agreement. Together with the industrial
portfolio companies, Aker also uses its influence to ensure that the
portfolio companies’ supply chains and customers comply with the
principles set out in the agreement.
Global Works Council
Aker has a global cooperation council in which the company, employee representatives and industrial portfolio companies are represented, the Global Works Council (GWC). Aker’s CEO and the operative companies’ top management participate actively in the GWC dialogue and two formal GWC conferences has been held in 2020. The GWC brings together liaison bodies' representatives from Angola, Brazil, England, Germany, India, Malaysia, Norway, Scotland, and the U.S.

Aker Active promotes physical activity and measures to improve health for all Aker and the portfolio companies’ employees.
In 2019, Aker ASA had 43 employees and a healthiness rate of 99.32 per cent (equivalent to a sick leave of 0.68%). All Aker-owned companies had a total of 21 865 employees and a healthiness rate of 97.37 per cent in 2019.

In its ownership capacity, Aker is focused on ensuring that the companies have able, motivated and healthy employees that enjoy good and professional working conditions. Stiftelsen VI
Stiftelsen VI (the VI Foundation) works to ensure that people with disabilities are given the same opportunities to perform as non-disabled. The ambition is to make the foundation a resource and knowledge-hub for opportunities and rights for people with disabilities.
Aker is one of several VI foundation companies and has committed to contribute NOK 10 million over a five-year period. In addition, nine of our portfolio companies contribute NOK 10 million each to the VI foundation to support measures and activities for people with disabilities over a five-year period, bringing total donations up to NOK 100 million.
Aker Scholarship gives students the opportunity to gain world-class impulses, networks and knowledge.

Stipendiet tildeles studenter fra alle fag- og kunnskapsområder
med evner, dokumentert samfunnsengasjement og personlig potensial. En
akademisk komite vurderer de akademiske kvalifikasjonene til
kandidatene. Støtten gis for hele studieperioden, og vil supplere andre
ordninger slik at stipendiaten samlet blir fullfinansiert, inkludert bo-
og levekostnader, under oppholdet. Studentene vil dermed ha muligheten
til å være gjeldfrie etter endt utdanning.
